If you had to define the 20th Century in one sentence, what would it be? Who would you include in a list of movers and shakers? In this book, Time-Life takes a shot at both questions and does so in a defined view, one which makes it easy for the reader to peruse. Each personality receives a bio from a well-known writer or name. Elie Wiesel, for instance, wrote the Hitler overview, while Salman Rushdie takes on Gandhi and John Keegan writes eloquently on Churchill. Obviously, since it's a Time-Life publication, it skews toward Americans, but it does a nice job overall.
