Synopsis
Jazz pianist Paul Bley discusses his improvisational concepts and aesthetic values, relates anecdotes about his career that illuminate his own musical path, and reveals what he considers to be the most important elements in forging an individual jazz style. The interviews are accompanied by transcriptions and analysis of a number of Bleys improvisations that illustrate the concepts he discusses. Photographs are included.
