Synopses & Reviews
Anxiety disorders are among the commonest conditions presented to psychiatrists and clinical psychologists, and recent years have seen the development of increasingly specific treatment strategies, using both drugs and cognitive behavioural approaches. Treatment of Anxiety Disorders provides clinicians with an authoritative review of the epidemiology, etiology, and evaluation of anxiety disorders, as well as manuals for conducting a comprehensive and effective cognitive behavioural programme for the common anxiety disorders. Clinicians at all levels of expertise can use the volume in a variety of ways: as an introduction for those new to the field, as a reference, for planning treatments, or for clinical problem-solving. Treatment of Anxiety Disorders offers both a theoretical overview and a framework to help psychiatrists and clinical psychologists, whether experienced or not, build successful treatment programmes.

Review
"This book really provides a unique and informative combination of 'clinician guides' and 'patient treatment manuals' for clinicians who treat anxious patients. This book goes a long way towards increasing awareness of both the art and science of conducting cognitive-behavioural therapy in clinical settings. It is a state-of-the-art, well-written and easy-to-read text for psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and general practitioners who regularly treat anxious patients." S. Seedat, SAMJ Forum"This is a terrific contribution to the field. Its unique structure, designed for both clinician and patient, is a real asset. Because the anxiety disorders are among the most common of psychiatric disturbances, this book should be used by any clinician who treats patients with these syndromes."
