FYI:
some background re:
the author Arthur Shepherd Watson:
This book was written by my grandmother's second husband. My dad jokingly called him "shuffles." Of course my dad was a bit biased, as his dad had died and grandpa Dr. Samuel Jeremiah Walker had been a fabulous husband to my grandmother Helen E. (Taylor) Walker. My grandmother married "shuffles" when she was about 81 years old or so, after grandpa died in 1979. My grandma grew up in Whittier, and I believe "shuffles" taught botany @ Whittier College for a time, and then he became president of a Quaker college in Wichita, Kansas. I have only seen the book breifly, and want a good copy, as it is a piece of my family history. "Shuffles"used to serenade my grandma with harmonica tunes...
