About the Author
Phillip Jarrett was assistant editor of Aeroplane Monthly magazine from its foundation in 1973 until 1980, before serving ten years as production editor of Flight International magazine. Now a freelance writer and editor, he has produced countless articles and papers on a wide variety of aeronautical subjects, as well as lecturing on aviation topics. Author of Another Icarus: Percy Pilcher and the Quest for Flight, published by the Smithsonian Institution in 1987, he is currently series editor for the authoritative Putman History of Aircraft Volumes.
