Synopsis
With a title like
Ultimate Nutrition for Health (formerly
Laugh with Health), author Manfred Urs Koch sets the bar high for this practical guide to everyday eating. Designed to benefit people across the spectrum of health and fitness, this book is stocked with full-color photographs, charts and diagrams. The reader will find cutting-edge, practical information presented in an easy-to-use format filled with helpful tips on almost every nutrition-related subject, along with unique, detailed food combination charts and customized diet recommendations that can be put to use right away.
Using ingredients that are familiar and easily accessible, Ultimate Nutrition for Health breaks down ordinary foods to show the reader exactly what the health benefits are for each one. Koch categorizes them by type and group, including carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, vitamins, and minerals. Having created reference-book style entries for a wide selection of specific foods within each group, including apricots, ricotta cheese, macadamia nuts, crayfish, and dozens more, he also provides a detailed explanation of 36 essential vitamins and minerals and handles the abundance of information by organizing it into reader-friendly, color-coded charts and well-defined sections.
Koch pays special attention to the choices that promote good health, like regular physical activity, a variety of nutritious foods, regular intake of water and a regular and balanced diet. He describes body systems, sub systems, ailments and risk factors, gives advice on how to prepare and store food safely, and includes an informative question and answer section.
Ultimate Nutrition for Health also explores the Healthy Eating Pyramid, a simple visual model developed by Nutrition Australia for the general public to use as a first step guide to better health and adapted for this edition to the US Eating Pyramid. To further support the reader in his quest for balanced nutrition and healthy diet decisions, Koch includes diet recommendations tailored for athletes, children and teenagers, anti-cancer, anti-stress, rejuvenation and dealing with anemia.
A bridge between the medical world and the natural, self-healing world of thought, Ultimate Nutrition for Health is intended to address more than just the physical body. Koch defines health as soundness of body and mind, and addresses the mental benefits of nutrition, lending unique insight into the ways healthy food can improve the quality of all areas of the readers life.
According to Daily Mercury Weekender reporter Lynnis Bonanno, "It might be hard to imagine that what is basically a health encyclopedia would be a book you find hard to put down. But that's what happened when I started browsing through Laugh With Health, a beautiful glossy color guide to all things health, nutrition and natural foods."
What began as a small, self-published, homemade handbook produced and distributed by the author in rural Australia has evolved into a complete guide to health, diet, nutrition and natural foods that has been a bestseller throughout health shops in Australia for several years, is a trusted (valuable?) reference for students and naturopaths, and has sold 140,000 copies worldwide.
Ultimate Nutrition for Health delivers the knowledge and tools to maximize health and fitness potential, which makes it an essential resource for everyone interested in natural health, healthy eating, and learning to eat as well as the professionals who study or teach nutrition, including medical doctors, naturopaths, nutritionists, and dietitians many of whom have read the book and recommend it to their patients and clients.
An encyclopedic guide to everyday food, illustrated with appealing full-color photographs and complete with detailed nutritional charts and a detailed explanation of how food the food we consume interacts with the body, this book is a treasure trove of health information.
