About the Author After enjoying Uncle Fred's lecture twice in Flint, Michigan, I was enthralled by what had been included in those two books of the Bible. I felt the call into the ministry when I was seventeen, although it took several years before that really happened. My wife and I worked together at pastoring, and people in the Utley area of Flint graciously responded to our efforts. We moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and soon were busy starting the work on the south side of town. When a change of jobs found us in Orlando, Florida, we were soon pastoring there. I was editor of the Florida Church Bulletin for over a year, too. That was a fun job. I was a World Service rep to the Florida churches twice, and also filled in many times for pastors on vacation. We were interim pastors several times when churches needed help for short periods. After being a Building Fund Campaign Director for Home Missions of the church for over a year, we accepted the call to pastor the DeSoto, Missouri church. During September, 2005, my wife, Laural June, felt the need to become a volunteer at the Avante Nursing Home, to read, talk to individuals, or whatever, and when they asked her if her husband was a retired minister, she had to say yes. They said, We need a chaplain, would he be it for us? We served together as Chaplain and volunteer to those wonderful patients and workers for one year.
