I thoroghly enjoyed reading this book, because it was written in a very poetical style certainly unconventional, sometimes you did not know who was saying what but at those times it did not really matter. It showed the simplistic way of life of the natives Indians, which was set in the Guyanese capitol of Georgetown savannahs, the part where the dog was bitten and died by a snake leaping about 30 foot distance has never left my mind. The epilogue though had no baring on the story whatsoever. I wrote to the publisher about it, but did not even get a reply. I suppose they just like to be told what they want to hear. Nevertheless; I was so moved by this book that I was inspired to write a poem after reading it. "Eavesdrop while she slept" I saw you hurry-scurrying as I manoeuvred in wild desolation upon your trail. Dismissively you glanced back at me, contorted by the scorching wind blowing your straggling long blond hair across your face. At that moment, the sun and moon came together in the sky. One hue blended into another. I reached into the heavens and give them to you. You took them for your eyes. Without them there is no light or darkness. Gradually you moved your swaying hips, brilliant colour enmeshed through the stain glass lattice windows. Like looking through a Kaleidoscope, where you momentarily lay down, subdued dead silent. You committed all this to memory. Avidly we imagined there could be more, returning perilously late that evening in the galactic sweltering heat, like spirits warm humid and sticky. Born at the same time, simultaneously, a billion light years apart, for this very night, to find pussy still sleeping. Steve Phillips (Author of Rossetti The Novel)
