Review
"After young Henry makes enough noise to 'wake the dead,' befuddled ghosts rise from the grave. They quietly haunt the library ('I expect dead silence!' carps a librarian) and the pool ('Man, that's one awesome dead man's float!' says a lifeguard). They can't R.I.P. with all the racket, so Henry throws a party to tire them out. One skeleton comically demonstrates the 'Hokey Pokey' over an open grave. Kwas (Rumpus of Rhymes) depicts the mute Day of the Dead spirits with asymmetrical eye sockets and compliant demeanors; her kinked ink line suggests a benign Charles Burns or Gris Grimly. Debut writer Harris grabs every opportunity for 'dead' wordplay, and her comedy leaves all souls grateful. Ages 4-8." Publishers Weekly (Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information, Inc.)

About the Author
Monica A. Harris learned the phrase “loud enough to wake the dead” from her grandma who, for some strange reason, said it quite often. She is a creative writing instructor, and the author of seven published books, but this is her first picture book. Ms. Harris lives with her husband and two daughters in Portage, Michigan, where she enjoys reading, rock climbing, hiking, and strolling through cemeteries (seriously).
Susan Estelle Kwas is the illustrator of five books for children. When shes not drawing she likes to bind books, see lots of movies, and hang around with friends who tell goofy stories. She lives with her husband and her angry cat in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, near a lake so big that you cant see the other side.
