About the Author
Sharon Wood Wortman, born in Oregon City
(Willamette River mile 26), has been a guide
for Portland Parks & Outdoor Rec since 1991.
She is the author of The Portland Bridge Book
first published in 1989, and appreciates bridges
for the way they've led her to discover poetry
and other wonders.
Kirsten Rian leads workshops internationally
using poetry as a tool for literacy, healing,
and sharing of stories, especially within the
refugee/immigrant and homeless communities.
She recently returned from Sierra Leone
and is working on a poetry project connected
to peace building.
Ed Wortman, born in Greenville, Maine,
moved to Portland in 1971 to work on the
Fremont Bridge. An engineer all his career, he
has worked on bridges and other structures
across the United States and overseas, but no
place better than the City of Bridges.
