Synopsis
We Belong in History celebrates William Staffords life as a writer, teacher, and Poet Laureate of Oregon. This collection presents excellent student writing inspired by his work, a selection of Staffords work, and three sets of lesson plans written by teachers. This allows teachers everywhere to inspire their own students to write in response to Staffords work. With an introduction by current poet laureate of Oregon, Paulann Petersen, teachers, student writers, Stafford-admirers, and poetry readers will enjoy We Belong in Historys celebration of the joy of writing.
About the Author
We Belong in History includes writing by former Poet Laureate William Stafford, Oregons middle and secondary school students, and two experienced Oregon teachers: Erin Fox Ocón, and Robin Scialaba—who have worked intensely with the William Stafford archives at Lewis and Clark College to develop hands-on writing curricula that encourage appreciation of William Staffords work, and allow students to develop their own habits, skills, and voices as writers.
