Synopses & Reviews
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MEN PRAY? In 1857 a church janitor advertised a prayer meeting to be held in a small church in Manhattan. Six people showed up the first week. But soon the group had expanded to thousands of men who met daily in almost every public building in downtown New York City. The resulting revival lasted until near the end of the century. Similar stories could be told of William Carey who became the father of modern missions, parliamentarian William Wilberforce who brought about the end of slavery in the British empire, and Danish attorney Valdemar Hvidt who all but eliminated unemployment in Denmark in the 1930s during the Great Depression. The impact each of these men was based upon the foundation of prayer-individually and with others. What might God do today about hunger, homelessness, decaying family life, and the inner emptiness that pervades our society? What if a group of men determined to pray and seek God’s help and guidance to tackle these problems and the lost condition of our world? In What God Does When Men Pray, you’ll find encouragement, inspiration, and practical tips on how a group of men can get together and affect their world through prayer. You’ll discover: 1) God’s open invitation for us to talk to Him 2) How to break through personal barriers toward prayer 3) The adventure of praying together with other men 4) The Thirty-Day Prayer Experiment 5) Praying over your own personal stories 6) The joy of watching God at work So whether you consider yourself a veteran of prayer or count yourself in the ranks of hesitant beginners, What God Does When Men Pray will excite you and enable you to meet God in a life-changing and world-impacting way.

Synopsis
You don’t have to be the apostle Paul in order to share your faith. Relatively few of us are gifted in the area of evangelism. In fact, many of us have a rather dismal track record when it comes to sharing our faith. And yet, in spite of our evangelistic shortcomings, we want to share Jesus with others. Is there a way we can be involved in sharing the gospel without preaching like the apostle Paul? You may not be a gifted evangelist, but you do have the gift of servanthood. You can use that gift to reach out to your community with the love of God. For years Steve Sjogren has successfully used a simple approach called “servant evangelism” that allows any believer-regardless of gifting-to be involved in sharing God’s love with others. One of the great things about this approach is that you don’t have to do it alone. Sjogren offers 101 simple and effective ways your church or small group can demonstrate the love of God to those in your community. And when people see the love of God in action, they want to know more about Him. You can share your faith successfully -- here are 101 ways to get started!
