Have you ever wondered what happened to English families the very first day the bombs from World War II Germany fell on England? This book tells the story of how one family with young children, shocked and devastated by the unexpected attacks, managed to survive sudden loss of all amenities, food and water. How they preserved life for themselves and their tiny children, maintained their personal moral standards amongst panicked citizenry, and lived through the dangerous time that followed. It is a fascinating story of family love and survival amidst the sudden devastation of early wartime England. It is my favorite book of the decade.
