Synopses & Reviews
Each issue of
Wholphin contains a variety of extraordinary short films, documentaries, instructional videos, foreign sitcoms, and other cinema hybrids.
Wholphin Issue 2, a two-disc set, features "The Power of Nightmares," Adam Curtis's acclaimed documentary on the roots of Islamic fundamentalism and American neoconservative thought. There's also a Japanese remake of
Bewitched, a new film by several writers from
The Daily Show, and an adaptation of Michael Chabon's short story "House Hunting," starring Paul Rudd and Zooey Deschanel. One of the stranger offerings in this diverse set of shorts is a filmed crying competition, and the realm of animation is represented in “The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello,” a short film by Australian director Anthony Lewis.
