This is not an average cookbook in any way shape or form! The quality is superb from the thickness of the paper used, to the artfulness of the color photographs. The cover of the book itself is visually gorgeous and it adorns a table in my living room and each recipe in the book is accompanied by a beautiful photo. It is no surprise that Wild Plate recently won cookbook of the year from VEG NEWS Magazine. I wonder why Powell's does not have a photo of the book with this listing as it is just beautiful.
I love the variety of beverage recipes which are categorized into smoothies, juices, shakes, and infused H20. The Vanilla Malt Milkshake with Blackberry Swirl.... is Heaven. The Chocolate Shake was the best I have ever tasted. You would never miss the dairy counterpart.
The flavors in the award winning Chili recipe are absolutely delicious! The Wild Mushroom Spinach Crepes with Macadamia Ricotta and Lemon Cream Sauce is fabulous and worth the effort. For those of you who are dairy free and gluten free like me, the desserts in this book are out of this world. The Banana Cream Pie and the Kona Coffee Cheesecake are to die for. The raw bread recipe is wonderful. I eat it as is or make a sandwich out of it.
You don't have to be a raw foodist to enjoy this book. Laurel proves that you can prepare healthy and nutritious meals and get the benefits of eating nutrient dense food that is also tasty and delicious.
