About the Author
Ray Atkeson became a legend in his lifetime, taking tens of thousand of spectacular outdoor photographs. He became especially well-known for his stunning black and white images of the ski and snow country in the Western states. He was named Photographer Laureate of Oregon in 1976. Ray passed away in 1990 at the age of 83.Rick Schafer's career in photography began with a ten-year apprenticeship under renowned photographer, Ray Atkeson. Schafer's work has been published internationally over the last twenty years. Recent works include these exhibit format books: Oregon IV; Our Portland; Oregon Golf; Magnificent Places: Oregon Coast; and Portrait of Oregon.
