Synopses & Reviews
The accounts in the current edition of Women Travel, an anthology of journeys written from a woman's perspective, span some 60 countries and highlight pleasures and pitfalls of journeys, and particular concerns faced in adjusting to different customs and cultures. Destinations range from a working stay in Bhutan to a hedonistic trip to Greece, and contributors are aged from their 20s to 70s. Some travelled alone; some with other women; others with male partners and/or children, in tour groups, or on business. The only rule was that their narrative should inspire other women and be a good read.
Rough Guide's celebrated globetrotting anthology is back in time for holiday gift giving with 100 completely new essays by adventurous women. 75 maps.
Featuring more than 80 adventures around the world, this collection tells what it is like to backpack around India with your mother, be crowned Queen Mother of an African village, have a girls' night out in the Kalahari Desert, and sweat behind the scenes at a Caribbean carnival.
