Excerpt from Works Connected With Ocean and Inland Navigation: Belgium and Holland, Notes on the Works Approved or Completed in 1920
These works, authorised in 1913, form the complement of those executed from 1907 to 1910, in the passage of Ghent by water, in view of making the communications easier between the Upper Scheldt and the port of Ghent, by doing away with two locks. After their completion the Pecherie Canal will have a depth of 0 m. Ft.) and an average width of 35 m.
The drawbridge will have a single span of 18 m. (59 ft.) width with a minimum headroom of m.
The whole of the extension works of the reach, excepting the drawbridge, was adjudicated in July, 1914, at the price of francs, these works were stopped at the beginning of August, 1914, and have not as yet been resumed.
The construction of the drawbridge was the object of a detailed contract and was valued at about francs.
