Synopses & Reviews
When we feel emotionally overwhelmed, we often talk about what’s bothering us with a friend or therapist. Here is a new approach—balance your mind with your body. Bo Forbes, a clinical psychologist and yoga instructor, found that when our body is relaxed and balanced, our emotions also become in tune. This observation inspired her to introduce a blend of yoga and relaxation into her psychotherapy practice, with positive results. The simple yoga practice she developed is ideal for when we feel stressed out or slightly depressed, though it is also a helpful tool for people with more serious anxiety or depression.
This book offers part self-help and part yoga therapy. It explains how our physical body and emotions are interconnected, and how yoga can impact our emotional well-being. It then goes on to offer:
• A questionnaire to help readers gauge their level of anxiety or depression
• Yoga poses and breathing techniques to alleviate anxiety
• Yoga poses and breathing techniques to alleviate depression
• Yoga poses and breathing techniques to alleviate the combination of anxiety and depression
• A troubleshooting chapter so that even the novice can practice yoga comfortably
