Detour Ahead
Due to construction of the neighboring streets beginning June 2009, the routes to Powell's NW Warehouse have changed. Click here for a detailed map and directions to the warehouse during construction (estimated to continue through December 2010).

Every day, Powell's opens our NW warehouse to buy your books. Selling at our warehouse is incredibly convenient:

Free parking
Easy access to unload your books with hand trucks available for your use.
Don't have time to wait? Leave large buys with us and we'll mail you a check.

We request that all large buys of ten or more medium sized boxes (approximately 350 books) be left with one of our buyers. Any large buys arriving after 1pm may not be completed by the end of the day.

Our warehouse is located at 2720 NW 29th (down from the Montgomery Park building) in the NW Industrial area. Doors are open daily, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Services are available on a first come, first served basis. The sooner you arrive, the sooner we will complete your buy.

What we pay for used books

We buy books we feel we can resell. You will earn a percentage of the price we expect to charge for the books: 25% in cash or 30% in credit. Our buyers base their pricing on desirability, market value, in-print price, condition, our current stock levels, and most importantly condition.

We do not buy the following:

Books in poor condition*
Family bibles
Old edition textbooks
Books on cassette tape(s)
Encyclopedia sets
Many book club editions
Magazines
Time Life/Reader's Digest Series
Adult series westerns (Longarm, etc.)
Adult series romance (Harlequin, etc.)
Original software user's and product manuals
Russian & Japanese Foreign Language Books

* We cannot buy books that are in poor condition. A poor condition book has one or more of the following attributes: Broken spine, broken hinges, underlining/notes, loose pages, missing media, mold, water damage, soiling, odor, excessive wear and hardcover books missing their dust jackets. Books are very sensitive and if they are stored in a dark or musty place such as a garage, attic or a barn they will take on the characteristics of that environment.
