Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Melba Patillo Beals was one of nine black teenagers chosen to integrate Little Rock, Arkansas's Central High School in 1957. For Melba and her friends it marked their transformation into reluctant warriors--on a battlefield that helped shape the civil rights movement. Warriors Don't Cry is their riveting story. Optioned by Disney for a feature film.

this book is surprised me because i started reading it thinking that i knew a lot about the little rock nine, but it has a totally new meaning hearing the first hand experience of those involved. I recommend this book even to those that have already studied about the civil rights movement. It is a must read for todays generation to understand what those before us had to endure so we could live, work and learn together.

This book should should be on the "must read" list of anyone living in the United States. It is absolutely incredible what we as a country put these school children through, and their story is an inspiration to anyone who finds it hard to stand up for their beliefs. It is also an admonishment to any of us who ever turn a blind eye to evil.
