Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Mayhem and violence rule in this collection of issues one through seven of Jhonen Vasquez's Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, as well as material seen before only in Carpe Noctem magazine. Dark and disturbingly funny, JTHM follows the adventures of Johnny (you can call him Nny), who lives with a pair of styrofoam doughboys that encourage his madness, a wall that constantly needs a fresh coat of blood, and — oh, yeah — his victims in various states of torture. Join Nny as he frightens the little boy next door (Todd, known to fans of Vasquez's work as Squee), thirsts for Cherry Brain Freezies, attempts suicide, draws Happy Noodle Boy, and tries to uncover the meaning of his homicidal existence.

Review:

"Jhonen Vasquez has touched on something important here. There's a little monster inside all of us, a little wolf-faced monkey that needs to be satiated....Johnny the Homicidal Maniac gives our monster something to chew on. It's pain-food that wears its teeth down." Rob Schrab, from the foreward

Synopsis:

This book reprints material previously seen in Johnny the Homicidal Maniac #1-#7, as well as in Carpe Noctem magazine. Other material was seen in the holo-zines on the planet Mars, but you wouldn't know about that.

Synopsis:

Enter the dark corners of the human psyche in these halarious and thought-provoking episodes in the life of one spindly, black-clad young homicidal maniac, as well as his terrified neighbor boy Squee, the unfortunately superior Wobbly Headed Bob, a blood-drinking wall, cavernous basement torture rooms, and Johnny's own comic, Happy Noodle Boy.

My friend Micah recommended this. He bought all the single issues when they first came out. This is seriously good stuff. It's pretty horrific. Also check out Squee. Seriously, anything by Vasquez is probably really kick ass. Read this today.
