Publisher Comments:

The NPR Map, published by vW Maps, was assembled from three databases. A spreadsheet of radio transmission towers, a listing of radio stations that air programming from National Public Radio®, and a computer file describing the surface of the earth were combined to make a consumer product. The first two files were linked in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, and then appropriate points were drawn on the map. The third file was processed to create a background of North America in the form of shaded relief. Once these layers were merged, the map was finished in desktop publishing software.
