I enjoyed this book when I was younger. It has a lot of information and while it may not have every detail and fact, it is very useful for getting an idea of the diversity of religions. I'd recommend it to teens looking for some answers.

it is so common for some-one like you sir to put down a good literature like this because it is of a different world view to yours. the fact of the matter is , You skimmed. no-one should trust your reveiw if you straight out told them you didn't read the book thoroughly before condemning it. you sir are a bad case of hard headed ness. your stubborness to inspect what another person is saying ruins this good read. just beacuse it does not appeal tou you does'nt mean i wont like it. before saying something like this you need to get your facts straight and then cast your judjement. your not insulting a book your insulting a person. wich you have no right to do. beside that any book is realy biased to someones own beliefs because books are written by people who all have thier own opinion. deal with it.

Admittedly I only skimmed this book, and I could not stand to read it at length because it infuriated me. That the book has been reviewed by Christian scholars is no wonder, but it was certainly not reviewed by scholars of any of the religions discussed.

Many of the claims this book makes are thinly veiled attacks on the religions within. Many more of the claims are outright wrong. As a scholar of East Asian religions in particular, the brief section that dissects the movie "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon," is entirely unfounded. The movie is in now way an example of Chinese religions on anything more than the most basic levels. The tenants discussed by this book get them wrong, at that. Yin and Yang is a Taoist principle, not Confucian, incorporated into the larger belief systems of China. Neither Yin nor Yang represent good, or evil. This is knowledge acquired within weeks of taking a course on Chinese religions. Judging from this section alone, it is clear that the authors set out to skim religions, much like I their book, and to refute them as quickly as possible, in hopes that their readers will look no further than their purchase for answers.

As a human being, I am outraged at the claim that the Muslim faith is described as, "Allah's Army." The cognitive leap required to see that the authors were attempting to make all Muslims out to be suicidal zealots is a small leap, indeed.
