Brian Keene's contribution to Zombie Horror (and horror in general) is amazing. If you're a fan of the original three Romero films you MUST read this series.

Like King and Lovecraft before him, Brian's stories all interweave within his own dark cosmos. You will read these books FAST because you can't put them down, and then you'll read them again because there's nothing else out there nearly as good. Keene has surpassed the masters of his own genre.

These were out BEFORE World War Z, Monster Island and a score of lesser known books, so don't be mislead into thinking they're rip offs of rip offs of rip offs.

Probably best appreciated by true connoisseurs of zombie fiction, still, if you're a horror fan on any level you owe it to yourself to at least taste the first book (which can be read by itself, but once you finish it you won't be able to stop yourself from running for the next).

The Rising gets my vote for the Golden Galoshes award (tho in this case maybe they should be RED).

The Rising had a blurb on its cover by Richard Laymon – so I bought it, and I am soooooo glad that I did - as it is, hands down, the best zombie novel that I’ve ever read!!
I do not want to give anything away, but Keene’s twist on the zombie genre is awesome!! I loved the concept, right away!!
The only bad thing about this book, is the way that it ended – I could not believe how it ended!! Let’s just say that the day I finished it, I had to immediately go out and buy the sequel, so make sure that you buy both books together, as not having the second one will drive you crazy!
