Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:Monica wants the moon to play with, so her Papa sets out to get it. It isn't easy to climb to the moon, but he finally succeeds — only to find the moon is too big to carry home. Children will love the joyful way in which this problem is solved. Now available as a Classic Board Book edition, this delightful story literally unfolds as pages open dramatically, extending both outward and upward. Review:"A splendid introduction to the monthly lunar cycle, this is also a wondrous work of art that will stand up to countless readings." Publishers Weekly Review:"An interesting way of presenting the waxing and waning of the moon." Children's Literature Synopsis:Eric Carle is known the world over for his beautiful picture books for very young children, with their simple and entertaining yet educationally sound stories and their distinctive collage illustrations. Born in Syracuse, New York, he moved with his parents to Germany, where he studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Stuttgart. On returning to the United States, he worked for a time as a graphic designer for The New York Times, and then for a large advertising agency. His first children's book, 1,2,3 to the Zoo (1968) was an immediate success and his second, The Very Hungry Caterpillar (1969) brought him international acclaim and has established itself as a modern classic. He and his wife now live in northern Massachusetts. A simpler version of Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me was written by Mr. Carle a number of years ago for his daughter Cirsten, who found it both heartening and inspiring. Now he has created new illustrations for his original story, and shares its message with a wider audience. What Our Readers Are SayingBe the first to add a comment for a chance to win!Product Details
