Synopses & Reviews

Please note that used books may not include additional media (study guides, CDs, DVDs, solutions manuals, etc.) as described in the publisher comments.

Publisher Comments:

Endymion, Pelops, Daedalus, Pygmalion — we recognize the names, but what are the stories behind these and other familiar gods from the Greek pantheon — names that recur throughout the history of European culture?

Drawing on an enormous range of sources, Robert Graves has brought together elements of these myths in simple narrative form. He retells the adventures of the most important gods and heroes of the ancient Greeks. His work has become the reference for the serious scholar as well as the casual inquirer.

Synopsis:

In a work that has become a classic reference book for both the serious scholar and the casual inquirer, Graves retells the adventures of the important gods and heroes worshipped by the ancient Greeks. Each entry provides a full commentary which examines problems of interpretation in both historical and anthropological terms, and in light of contemporary research.

Synopsis:

This edition contains "The Greek Myths" volumes one and two.

This book has all the information and all the stories but it is far from an easy read. The myths are not very well told. They are dry and bland. This book is more of an experts refrence book then a story book.
