Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

There was once a village bred by evil. On the barren coast of Cornwall, England, lived a community who prayed for shipwrecks, a community who lured storm-tossed ships to crash upon the sharp rocks of their shore. They fed and clothed themselves with the loot salvaged from the wreckage; dead sailors' tools and trinkets became decorations for their homes. Most never questioned their murderous way of life. <BR>Then, upon that pirates' shore crashed the ship "The Isle of Skye. And the youngest of its crew members, 14-year-old John Spencer, survived the wreck. But would he escape the wreckers? This is his harrowing tale.

Synopsis:

When a ship crashes upon the shore of the Isle of Skye, a 14-year-old survivor must continue to fight for his life against the wreckers--a coastal community of murderous people who pillage shipwrecked vessels to feed and cloth themselves and decorate their homes. An ALA Best Book for Young Adults and a "School Library Journal" Best Book of the Year.

This book is really good, I read the second book first because the book was always out when I went to the library (I didnt know they would hold the books for you), I finally just read The Wreckers, and I wasnt disappointed, dont read the others before this one.

Enjoy.
