Charles Dickens: A Life Charles Dickens: A Life
by Claire Tomalin
Deb's Comments
"As a lifetime Dickens fan, I totally immersed myself in this biography, done with such intelligence and depth. Claire Tomalin's knowledge of her subject is thorough, and infused with empathy and humor. I would recommend this book for anyone wanting an in depth rendering of the life and genius of Charles Dickens." (read more)

The Probability of Miracles
The Probability of Miracles
by Wendy Wunder

Kaitlyn's Comments:
"I read this after I had finished reading 'The Fault in Our Stars,' and this one honestly hurt way more....It was sad, and sarcastic, while being joyous and depressive. Love wasn't the main thing about this book. It was about living life to the fullest, since we never know when our time will run out. It's a brilliant read for young adults and teens." (read more)

Letter to a Future Lover: Marginalia, Errata, Secrets, Inscriptions, and Other Ephemera Found in Libraries
by Ander Monson

Jeff's Comments:
"I cannot recommend this book enough. Monson is an under-appreciated literary genius and 'Letter to a Future Lover' should be read by any serious reader -- those readers who can't *not* be reading something, who lead a double life inside a book and out. Monson uses library marginalia to delve into questions about why we read, why we write, and how our private relationship with books can connect us all." (read more)

All the Bright Places
by Jennifer Niven

Richard's Comments:
"I wasn't sure if I wanted to read a book about teenage suicide, but I found a story that was more. It was a beautiful love story, a book about mental health issues, and bullying. The ending of this book will have in tears of sadness and tears of happiness. This is a book to keep and read again and again." (read more)

Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls
by David Sedaris

Eric's Comments:
"Sedaris has the power to take every-day experiences and, with a dash of sarcasm and neurotic slant, turn them into comic masterpieces. I always enjoying reading his works, and this one was no exception." (read more)

Jam on the Vine
Jam on the Vine
by LaShonda Barnett

Dawn's Comments:
"One of the reasons 'Jam on the Vine' succeeds is because it's an honest and heartfelt story about family, love, and ambition. The characters are real, their hardships test them but do not break them, and the historical references are accurate. The writing is lush and thoughtful, and often a sentence is one you must read again for the pure enjoyment of it... just like one would like to taste the delicious tomato jam that the main character's (Ivoe) mother produces for the neighborhood women....Barnett's tale of racism and the birth of African-American newspapers is made more strong by the integration of this marvelous family -- and the recipes and musical interludes that sprinkle the pages of this novel. It's a wonderful book that I hated to see end." (read more)
