Walker ambled in, set his backpack down, and approached Fup, supine in the mail tray. He leaned over the photocopier to pet her. "You devilish woman, you," Walker teased, "staring at me like that."

She was staring, and she wasn't going to hide it. Over Walker's chest bobbed a red circle the size of a grapefruit, and cupped within the bottom of the circle someone had Photoshopped in a portrait of Fup. So it wasn't just Collier and Ron; Graphics must have sent a box of t-shirts with the birthday stickers and balloons. They could have found a worse picture, she reminded herself.

Bear called out from atop the shelving in back, "How about making a t-shirt with my picture on it?"

"When you turn sixteen," Walker answered.

"Sixteen is the t-shirt birthday or something?"

All this ruckus, and still twelve days until the party. Every year Fup's birthday gets longer, and she can accept that, she really can.
