A man comes walking down the Park Blocks, heading south toward Burnside. Fup waits at the corner of Couch.

"Hello," he tells her. (About half the people who pass greet her, so long as other people aren't within hearing; women more often than men, but the ratio is closer than you probably think.)

Fup lets the man get ahead by a few steps before she falls in behind him. Scampering past parked cars along the curb, she reaches the crosswalk undetected — the steady, churning mass of metal crawling uptown masks the scraping of her claws on pavement, and the man simply never thinks to look down.

Pedestrians get concerned is the problem. They mean well, worrying over Fup's safety. How are they to know she's crossed here more times than they ever will?
