"I was named after a frog, not a duck," Fup insisted. "The day I came back from the shelter, Lisa introduced me to the staff at the Tech store and some guy who quit the very next day shouted, 'After the duck! Fup the Duck!' Right away everyone assumed he was right, but there's also a frog called Fup in a famous story that cats have been telling their kittens for generations. And that's where I got my name."

"What's the kitten story about?" I asked. "Who was the frog?"

"It's about a two-week old Tabby who gets separated from her litter. She meets a magical frog in the forest who helps her track them over the mountains and across the desert to their new home in Phoenix. Fup, the beautiful frog, has to turn back at the edge of the city, but by then the kitten � her name is Jasmine � has the confidence and the experience to finish the journey herself. I can't believe you don't know about it. I think Spielberg is bidding for the film rights."

"So why are you named after the frog?" Wendy asked.

"That's not the point," Fup said.

"What's the point, then?"

"That you should stop saying my name in the voice of a duck."
