Every Winter Carnival it's like this, visitors flocking to our cat counselors for answers.

Ask me anything," Fup implores. "I'm here to fill in the gaps. Think of me as putty for the drafty spaces in your mind."

"Ask her," the boy's girlfriend urges. "I shelled out a buck for this," she reminds him.

"The dollar goes to charity," Fup notes.

"Why aren't there any rides at this Carnival?" the boy asks.

"Haven't you seen them?" Fup replies. "Such rides this year! Goodness, Lucy walked through a closet and straight into another world! I was worried she might never find her way back."

"Rides," he repeats, "a roller coaster, bumper cars, even a Ferris wheel. I can't find any."

"We have Quidditch," Bear shouts from the back of the counselors' booth, "and a boy with a subtle knife who can cut into alternate realities."

"A tilt-a-whirl," the girl suggests, "spinning tea cups, a waterslide… something to make our stomachs turn."

Bear suggests the Bratwurst cart four blocks south, but he appears to be missing the point.
