Okay. Fup concedes she's not thrilled about sharing the store pet spotlight with our axolotl.

"One minute you're the star of the show," she told me, "the next some neotenous salamander above the Annex starts getting romantic e-cards from fans."

Fup has her pride. But we had a heart to heart, and finally Fup admitted she'd known all along how unlikely it was that someone who lives under water would be able to digest ice cream. She apologized, and Murgatroid's fine, of course, since we hosed him off. We've set up weekly store pet meetings to keep the lines of communication open.

Everything's cool.
