Visit any Powell's Portland-area location in November and say, "It's for Kids!"
The tenth annual It's for Kids campaign begins Saturday, November 1st
at all Powell's store locations.
This annual campaign is run for the benefit of Portland Public Schools and
Beaverton Public Schools. When customers say "It's for kids" at the time of
their purchase, ten percent of their sale is donated to PPS or BPS libraries
for the purchase of books.
To date, Powell's has added more than $470,000 to school library coffers,
earmarked for new book purchases. Last year's campaign alone raised close
to $80,000.
School library budgets have shrunk almost ninety percent in the last decade, and
Powell's is working hard to ensure this year's campaign is at least as
successful as last year's and hopefully much more. Come into one of
Powell's Portland-area locations, buy a book or two, say "It's for kids," and
help public schools buy books for our kids.
You love to read. Make sure someone else has the chance!
