Okay, the truth is it's been a while since I read The Outcasts of 19
Schuyler Place, but I remember thinking it would be a great book to read
on
a beach somewhere. It starts out like a typical underdog-at-summer-camp story where the protagonist is having trouble fitting in with the other girls, but instead of winning over their stuck-up hearts or seeking sweet revenge, Margaret Rose finds a place where she can truly be herself for the summer. I wholeheartedly related to this
character — which only the genius of Konigsburg could create — and highly
recommend this book to any strong, arty, soul searcher.
