Along with The Far Side and Bloom County, Bill Watterson's Calvin & Hobbes (briefly) revitalized the comics page for much of the '80s and '90s. Sadly, nothing has since come close, making this the perfect time to revisit Watterson's oeuvre. Mixing the pathos of Peanuts with the imagination of Little Nemo in Slumberland, plus indelible characters and sharp, beautiful artwork reminiscent of Pogo, Calvin & Hobbes is a feast for the eyes and mind. Watterson's cast lives and breathes on the page, and his stories and artwork transcend the confines of the four-panel strip, opening the form to whole worlds of possibility. If only someone new would come along to pick up Watterson's gauntlet. Recommended by Bolton, Powells.com

The last Calvin and Hobbes collection published, It's a Magical World is a good swan song. If you liked the comic strip, it's a must have and will serve to remind of just how great it was. And in case you don't remember, Calvin and Hobbes was really, really great.
