Martin Duberman is Distinguished Professor of History at Lehman College and the Graduate School of the City University of New York. He is the founder and first director of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies at the CUNY Graduate School, the countrys first such research center. He is the author and editor of some twenty books and has received numerous awards including the Bancroft prize in American History.
