Synopsis
Poet and philosopher Mark Nepo was diagnosed with a rare form of lymphoma in 1987, and his journey back to health awakened a new life. In his latest book, Nepo explores how sacred and useful everything in life is. The collection is a mix of then and now, of the wound and the healing, of the fear and the peace, of the confusion and the clarity. The poems affirm that surviving has more to do with our authenticity than our longevity. Nepo says, "But for a hiccup of God, I could be dead and one of those I've loved and lost might be writing this to you. So, this is not a book on how to get past illness. I've never gotten past it. Rather, thankfully, it has turned me inside out."
