Synopsis
Za Rinpoche first came to the world's attention when his life story was chronicled in the first chapter of Po Bronson's megabestseller, What Should I Do with My Life? In The Backdoor to Enlightenment, this revered teacher and Tibetan monk discredits common myths about how to grow spiritually and find happiness in our lives. According to Za Rinpoche, there is no need for us to spend a lifetime striving for absolute perfection, an unattainable goal. Instead, we can experience the joy and satisfaction of enlightenment right now, human imperfections and all. Za Rinpoche introduces six qualities--generosity, morality, patience, effort, concentration, and wisdom--that all of us must understand and incorporate into our everyday lives in order to live happier, more balanced existences. Blending centuries-old texts with contemporary wisdom, he shows readers of any faith how to use these qualities to bypass the traps and limitations of modern life and achieve lasting peace every day.
