Synopsis
New Paths Toward the Sacred attempts to interpret and weave together both contemporary and traditional ideas in relation to the intimate connection that exists between human experience and an awareness of the sacred. The importance of place to human experience is highlighted and the discernment of personal experiences in a sculpture garden are chosen as a way of researching this reality. The chapters cover the following topics: human experience, the religious and aesthetic dimensions of that experience, the sacred, dispositions, culture, and place. While every chapter is an entity in itself, each chapter leads into the next as an unfolding of thought emerges thereby enabling the reader to discern the gifted movement from ah to awe within personal experiences. It also assists people to articulate meaningfully such experiences both to themselves and others and to do so in a way that is relevant to modern life.
