Publisher Comments:
There are important differences in the ways Confucianism has been presented in the hands of different scholars. Written by a Chinese scholar based in the West, this book uses both traditional and contemporary scholarship and draws together the many strands of Confucianism in a style accessible to students, teachers, and general readers interested in one of the world's major religious traditions. There are questions at the end of each chapter to enhance textbook use.
Review:
"This book not only acquaints us with the rich history of Confucianism, but also it delimits its contemporary relevance....For a rounded account of Confucian thought, ethics, ritual and spirituality, I thoroughly recommend it." Ninian Smart, University of California, Santa Barbara
Review:
"...solid and well-organized book..." Religious Studies Review
