Publisher Comments:
In The Power of Now he shows readers how to recognize themselves as the creators of their own pain, and how to have a pain-free existence by living fully in the present. Accessing the deepest self, the true self, can be learned, he says, by freeing ourselves from the conflicting, unreasonable demands of the mind and living "present, fully and intensely, in the Now."

This book has a very simple power to change your whole perspective. If you want to get caught in the trappings and procedures of a myriad of disciplines, it won't work for you. If you want masters, and idols, and levels of spiritual accomplishment, this isn't the approach for you. If you are ready to let go of the bs and experience something true, read this.

There is some truth in what Tolle writes but his understanding is incomplete and suggests he is niavely unaware of his ignorance or trying to exploit the ignorance of others. In any case, I do not find the instuction of a true master in the material I have been exposed to. He talks about the achievement of enlightenment but the third step, or as the Buddhist say, the third noble truth, is absent: the way to end suffering. This is where the true master's value is; in directing the student to a direct understanding of how to traverse the path from suffering to the realization of the end of suffering. It seems as if Mr Tolle is hoping the reader/student/listener will get lucky. Perhaps he has or perhaps he is exploiting the teachings of a true master. I believe he is setting himself up as another trap, one he may even be caught in. At any rate; he has nothing to offer that the dedicated student can not find without his assistance. He is not that special. Instead go to the library or better yet; find a true master.
