Synopses & Reviews
Captain John Grayson, known as Gray, is a veteran who can't forget the horrors of war or the peasant bride who fatally followed him to the battlefield. Drowning in whiskey, he is shocked when a pregnant woman, Maggie, bursts into his rooms in labor, destitute and desperate to find her husband--Captain John Grayson. Gray, too drunk and depressed to make sense of Maggie's claims that she is Mrs. John Grayson, manages to deliver Maggie's child and bring her to the home of his cousins, do-gooders Harry and Tess Caufield. With a clear conscience, Gray leaves town. Two years later, some of his war wounds healed, Gray goes to his estranged father's estate. There he discovers Maggie's treachery, and is shocked to learn that she has become the heart of his estranged family. Torn between duty and truth, Gray and Maggie begin to pose as man and wife, and in the process, fall in love.
