Synopses & Reviews
New York lobbyist Michael Davoli feels like he's been sucker punched when he meets Anne Miller at a Jeff Tweedy concert. And it doesn't take long for him to realize that he's fallen hard when they wind up living in the same Albany apartment building. After all, Anne's hot, his dog likes her, and she can pick a lock faster than Sydney Bristow can disarm a nuke.
Always fiercely independent, Anne's crackerjack reporting skills and keen intellect are no match for the chemical reaction she has to this man with electric blue eyes. But while he effortlessly holds her with his gaze, he withholds the embrace she longs for. Why is he so distant? Has Anne misread his signals? Yet there is no doubt that she's under his skin and he's in too deep when Mike confesses that he harbors two secrets that could keep them apart: He has a neurological disorder that has shadowed him since childhood, and although he's mastered the physical tics so others don't notice, he may never be able to hold her in his arms at night for fear of the bruises he could inflict.
Anne isn't about to let anything like Tourette's syndrome keep her from the man of her dreams. But Mike has a second secret. Will this secret be the one that even a grand passion cannot survive?
With her trademark wit and sensual artistry, Julie Leto knocks this unforgettable romance out of the park and straight to the heart. Based on the true love story between Mike Davoli and Anne Miller, Hard to Hold is a modern-day fairy tale that proves that the best things in life--and in romance--are real.
Review
All About Romance was the romance destination of choice for more than 4.9
million unique visitors in 2009 who viewed more than 22
million pages throughout the year. AAR is
recognized in the mainstream media as a leading authority on romance.
This is one of the first books in the new True Vows line that tell the stories of real life romances. It's an interesting concept, one similar to AAR's own 'Isn't it Romantic?' contests of the past. While this means it's different than other romance novels, it also is a nice grounding in reality, and a reminder that HEAs exist in real life. About the Author
Julie Leto was born and raised in Florida to a family of Italian and Cuban descent. After picking up her first romance novel when she was only sixteen, Leto knew that she wanted to write one of her own. She earned degrees in creative writing and speech communications from the University of South Florida. She began writing in 1988 while she was in graduate school. After graduation she became an English teacher at Tampa Catholic High School and continued to write on weekends and at night. In 1996, in order to give herself more time to write, Leto quit her teaching job and joined her family's manufacturing business. The following year she sold her fourth completed novel,
Seducing Sullivan, to Harlequin Temptation. Shortly thereafter, she gave birth to a daughter and chose to be a full-time writer and mother. In addition to her long publishing history with Harlequin, she has also written romantic adventure novels for Simon & Schuster and paranormal romance for Penguin.
