She has great hopes for the year ahead, including the future of The Green News-Item, the possibility of romance with Chris, her good-looking catfish farmer/coach neighbor, and the growth of her fresh faith. However, the second year in Green has scarcely been rung in before Lois is wrung out. The former owners of the paper want it back. The mayor's dog bites her. Someone sets fire to her newspaper, not once but three times, and her garage burns to the ground.
