Peg and Rose Stir Up Trouble by Laurien Berenson is a delightful story to read. Peg and Rose are quite a pair. I laughed often while reading their latest adventure. I like how Rose and Peg bicker back and forth. They even argue over who is going to drive. I like Laurien Berenson’s writing style. It is friendly and engaging. The characters are realistic and developed. I had gotten to know Peg from the Melanie Travis series. I was happy that Melanie and her family were included in the story. Peg and Rose are alike in some ways and dissimilar in others. Their strengths and weaknesses pair well for solving a mystery. The mystery was interesting. Rose keeps Peg on her toes. Peg likes to believe she does not miss a thing, but it turns out some things do escape her notice. It is a good thing Rose was on hand. The pair soon discover that the suspect list is quite lengthy. Nolan might have misrepresented himself to Peg. I was able to identify the guilty party early on, but I had fun following Peg and Rose as they investigated the crime. The mystery is neatly wrapped up at the end. Peg’s poodles are front and center of course. Peg and Rose Stir Up Trouble is an entertaining tale with squabbling sisters-in-law, precious poodles, a dog show conundrum, a dead date, an excess of suspects, and scrumptious cake.
