This is a simple story of the gift of a pillow. Through changing seasons a young child struggles with her concern and love for her mother. She remembers the stories and games they shared before her mother became ill and went into the hospital. To help her mother feel more comfortable, the child makes her a special pillow. Unique in its simplicity but profound in its implications, this story will encourage every reader to find his or her own level of meaning and provide reassurance to face what is beyond our control.
About the Author
A native of New Zealand, Christine Ross always knew that she wanted to be an illustrator. After studying for a Diploma of Graphic Design at Wellington Polytechnic, she worked at odd jobs and traveled around the world, eventually settling in rural New Zealand with her husband, two children, and three cats.Charissa Sgouros earned her B.A. from Clark University and her M.S. in early Elementary Education from the Bank Street College of Education in New York City. She most recently coproduced a short documentary film on what children know about HIV/AIDS. She lives in Manhattan and teaches at the Bank Street School for children.
