Synopses & Reviews
This book introduces kids to the life and work of Frederic Remington, best known for his exciting paintings and sculptures of the Wild West. The author describes how Remington loved to paint action-packed pictures of battles and fights on the frontier, and especially loved to paint running horses -- the faster the better! His goal as an artist was to record the Wild West before it disappeared forever. The book even touches on Remington's often problematic portrayal of American Indians as aggressive warriors -- and how later in life Remington revised his views of Indians and gained more respect for and understanding of their way of life.
