Synopses & Reviews
The Williamson Enigne is probably one of the most attractive small engines ever built. It was made by Williamson Brothers of Kendal, Westmorland, and shown at the International Exhibition of 1862. The prototype of the model described in this book was their 5 h.p. engine of 6 1/2 in. bore, the stroke was about 14 in., the speed being approximately 130 r.p.m. The model is to a scale of one-tenth full size.
Castings and all materials together with working drawings are supplied as a package by Messrs. Stuart Turner. However, most model makers will find this book of instructional details, taken step by step, an invaluable asset whilst making the engine, besides being most informative in its own right.
Readers of this book and others in the same series will find a great deal to interest them, whether it be in the elegance of design, the method of machining, fitting and erecting these models or in the construciton of engines which incorporate all that was best in the Age of Elegance.
